38-year-old Wafeek Habib was driving down Murfreesboro Pike with no lights on his vehicle on late July 5th. Officers observed this and initiated a traffic stop at the Mount View Road and Murfreesboro Pike intersection. During the stop, they asked Habib for his driver’s credentials. Habib gave officers an international driver’s license, stating he was born in the United States despite his telling them he was born in Egypt.

Then, when police questioned him about where the driver’s license was issued, he told them that he had not received it from a government agency but that a friend made it for him. Habib further explained that he had been a resident of the US for about six months and had never obtained a driver’s license. Officers seized his false international license for evidence and cited him for the incident. Habib was later booked on the citation of using false identification on July 30th.
