28-year-old Kennedy Orrell was seen smoking on a Southwest flight at the Nashville International Airport on August 1st. When officers arrived and made contact with Southwest personnel, they were told that Orrell was showing signs of intoxication. Southwest employees explained that Orrell had taken a hit of her vape on the aircraft while they were starting to depart. Orrell was then escorted off her flight and informed that her flight had been canceled. Officers then told Orrell that she had to leave the property.

During officers’ interaction with Orrell, they noticed the smell of alcohol coming from her and that she was talking nonsensically while crying. After officers escorted Orrell to the front lobby to get her a hotel room, they spoke on the phone with her friend to calm her down. Once Orrell was escorted to the hotel and told the price of her room, she refused to pay and requested officers to take her to jail instead. Orrell was then taken into custody and charged with public intoxication.
