26-year-old Lanisha Dennis was caught shoplifting at the Walmart on Dickerson Pike on February 26th, 2023. The Walmart loss prevention agent informed officers that they witnessed Dennis scanning one item at self-checkout. After this, Dennis put several unscanned items in her cart. The loss prevention agent stated that he confronted her and identified himself once she left the store without paying.
After waiting for law enforcement to show up, the agent had to let Dennis go because the period that he was allowed to detain her was over. The value of the merchandise that was recovered was $171. Dennis was served her warrant for theft a year later, on August 8th, 2024.
Lanisha N. Dennis of Hillhurst Drive in Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on September 8th, charged with theft. She was released on her own recognizance.
