24-year-old Jasmine Venya Rugante was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication at Riverfront Park on 1st Avenue South and Broadway on May 26th. Around 1:40 a.m., Rugante’s sister told officers that Rugante thought that their other sister said something “slick” to her after she urinated on herself while drinking, which sparked a scuffle between them. Rugante’s sister said she did not know who initiated the altercation because it happened so fast, adding that she was just there and intervened to break it up. The other involved sister stated that the three were walking as a group when Rugante peed herself. She said that Rugante thought they were talking down to her behind her back and advanced on her. This started the scuffle between them, leaving scratches on her neck and clavicle and ripping the left strap of her dress. Rugante’s other sister said she was not in pain and did not want to press charges. Then, officers spoke with Rugante, who stated that she thought her sisters were talking bad about her because she urinated on herself and said, “They know how I get when I am drinking.” She could not remember who initiated the fight. She was later detained for the occurrence.
