20-year-old Antonio Carmelo was observed being “suspicious” at the School Lane and Weaver Drive intersection at 1:50 a.m. on June 27th. Responding officers arrived and observed that Carmelo’s vehicle was running, so they approached it. While looking into the vehicle, officers saw that he had open alcoholic beverage containers in his center console and floorboard. Officers had him exit his car, during which they reported that he reeked of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication. Carmelo admitted to having three of the four beers that they found in his car before and while driving. They prompted him with sobriety tests, to which he consented and performed poorly. He was detained for the occurrence and agreed to provide a blood sample after being informed of implied consent. Carmelo was transported to Nashville General Hospital and was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
