63-year-old Marlin Golden was seen visually intoxicated at the food court at the Nashville International Airport on July 2nd. Employees at the airport called officers explaining that there was a man in the food court who was possibly confused, intoxicated, and could not walk. When officers made contact with Golden, they immediately noticed the strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath, along with his glassy eyes. Golden was visibly upset and informed officers that he needed to get to Nashville and that his daughter was picking him up. However, Golden had lost his cell phone and could not tell officers his daughter’s phone number to be able to call for her to pick him up. Golden was asked her name, and a page in the terminal was made for her to come and get him, but she did not contact the police nor pick up Golden. Officers deemed Golden to be too intoxicated, so he was then stood up, placed in handcuffs, and sat back down in the wheelchair, where he was pushed to a patrol car due to his being unsteady on his feet. Officers deemed Golden to be unable to take care of himself, so he was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication.
