26-year-old Syndey Forrest had a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Ami Merchant, at his Creative Way residence around 4:14 a.m. on July 22nd. When officers arrived, they spoke with Merchant, who stated he and Merchant had a dispute. Forrest told officers that she found a text message to another woman on his phone. Forrest noted this was when she pushed him onto the bed and punched him in the face. Merchant corroborated her statement and added that he told her she needed to leave when he got up. She then charged at him again, causing him to fear imminent bodily injury, so he punched her in the face to create a distance between them. After this, he went into the hall. When Merchant returned, Forrest blocked the doorway and held it closed. He responded by pushing the door open, leaving visible injury to Forrest’s face. Forrest was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.
