20-year-old Kameren Lane McCullough stole a gun from Shayla Melton and Isaac Zumwalt’s vehicle at the Baymont Inn in Goodlettsville on April 13th. Melton and Zumwalt went to the police and reported that they had their Taurus 9mm handgun stolen while having McCullough in the car with them. Melton stated that McCullough saw the weapon in the car and referenced being under financial strain. McCullough said they could sell the gun if they wanted, but Zumwalt told him no. Then, they dropped him off at the Baymont Inn and went inside the Kroger to shop.

While in the store, McCullough called them numerous times, asking how long they would be. Once they returned to the vehicle, they realized the handgun was missing. Zumwalt noted that his wallet, some money, and a tablet were with the gun but not stolen. Officers obtained footage from Kroger showing an individual walking over from Baymont Inn to their vehicle, getting inside, exiting the car, and returning to the hotel. A warrant was later obtained for his arrest on May 2nd. McCullough was later taken into custody for motor vehicle burglary on July 24th.
