35-year-old Shabiki Simon had a domestic altercation with her husband, Sherwayne Hutson, at his “friend’s” Glengarry Drive residence on July 27th. Responding officers spoke with Simon, who stated that Hutson had been away from their home for a while and that she called him this morning. She said he told her that his phone was on 1% and that he was at his friend’s house. Simon further explained that she went to the location and confronted Hutson about his lies. Simon then asked for Hutson’s phone so she could see if it was on 1%, and after he refused, she grabbed his shirt, demanding that he give it to her. Then, Simon stated that Hutson pushed her to the ground and had his hands around her neck, “choking” her. She added that Hutson asked her to let go of his shirt while he was still on top of her before she stabbed him in his abdominal area. During the investigation, Simon said she grabbed a knife while on the way to Glengarry Drive because she felt like she might need it for protection.

Then, when Hutson spoke with officers, he told them that Simon showed up at his friend’s house and was mad at him. Hutson then advised that Simon punched him in the neck before he pushed her to the ground. Hutson held her there until Simon said she was calling the police. Hutson noted that after this, he let go of her and stood up, which was when Simon grabbed a knife and stabbed him. According to witnesses, Hutson was seen on top of Simon, holding her hands to the ground after she charged at him and grabbed his shirt. Officers determined that Simon was the primary aggressor. Hutson was transported to Vanderbilt with a serious knife wound. Simon was transported to Southern Hills Hospital for medical evaluation due to the alleged strangulation. Simon was later taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
