42-year-old Richard Goff and Leslie Nicole Overstreet robbed Jesus Espinoza-Salas at America’s Best Value Inn on Rivergate Parkway late August 21st. When officers arrived, they spoke with Espinoza-Salas, who stated via translator that Overstreet and Goff came to his room. He went into detail, saying that Goff pressed a cold metal object that he believed was a knife into his side while Overstreet ran through his wallet and took cash from it. Espinoza-Salas added that they also took his phone, and he was placed in fear of bodily harm. He said that Overstreet and Goff then left and returned to their room. The police went to the hotel room and spoke with Goff. He said that he had only gone to Espinoza-Salas’s room after Espinoza-Salas solicited Overstreet for sex. Goff added that he had no knowledge of anything being taken and that there was no physical altercation.

Then, Overstreet told the police, under Miranda, that she did not know about the incident taking place. However, after she and Goff consented to a room search, officers discovered Espinoza-Salas’ phone and $136 in Overstreet’s wallet. Officers noted that this was consistent with Espinoza-Salas’ story. Officers notified Overstreet that they had located Espinoza-Salas’s phone and money. Overstreet then changed her story multiple times. Overstreet eventually advised officers that Goff had become upset about her going to Espinoza-Salas’s room and entered it agitatedly. Overstreet added that Goff grabbed something off the table that may have been a phone and admitted to taking the cash from the table before leaving. Goff was taken into custody for robbery on August 22nd.

Richard Goff was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 22nd, charged with robbery. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $20,000.
