Courtney Hunt assaults owner of Pal’s Pizza Cart & damages $350 grill, tells him she will “beat his a**!”

26-year-old Courtney Hunt threatened Brandon Miles, owner of Pal’s Pizza Cart, while on 2nd Avenue South around 3 a.m. on July 14th. On August 20th, Miles filed a police report stating that Hunt, whom they knew from previous incidents, had confronted him. Miles stated Hunt told him she would “beat his a**” while her fists were balled up in a punching manner. Miles added that this happened three separate times before filing a report. Miles went into detail, stating that Hunt ran towards him while yelling, putting him in fear of harm. He said that in self-defense, he utilized his Pepper Spray on Hunt. After this, she ran to his $350 Blackstone Grill and knocked it over, damaging it to the point where it could not function. Then, Miles reported that Hunt had come by the business twice, making “boxing” gestures and threatening him. A warrant was issued for Hunt’s arrest. Hunt was later taken into custody for vandalism and assault on August 21st.

Dean Coxworth deemed too drunk for Broadway

61-year-old Dean Dwayne Coxworth had fallen on Broadway late August 20th. Officers observed this and assisted additional units in helping Coxworth. When the police approached Coxworth, they noticed his friends were leaving him. Officers spoke with him and found him to be heavily intoxicated, showing signs of impairment. Coxworth was deemed unable to care for himself and taken into custody for public intoxication on August 21st.

Paul Diaz jailed for stalking after repeatedly messaging woman & appearing at her apartment

46-year-old Paul Diaz was caught stalking Desiree Rizor at her Knolls Apartment on August 17th. Rizor contacted officers about how Diaz had been calling her and showing up at her apartment despite her having an order of protection against him. After officers confirmed this, Rizor provided them with text messages and voicemails she received from Diaz after he was served. One of the voicemails was Diaz calling Rizor to express how angry he was that she filed the order of protection against him. Rizor then told officers that Diaz had approached her apartment door, knocking and yelling on at least two separate occasions since the order was served. Diaz was taken into custody and charged with one count of stalking, harassment, and aggravated stalking.

Brookelin Jackson punches uncle in face multiple times during argument

18-year-old Brookelin Jackson was involved in an altercation with her uncle, Malachi Haynie, at his 24th Avenue North residence on August 20th. Once officers arrived and met with Haynie, he told them that his niece assaulted him. Haynie then explained that the altercation stemmed from an argument he got into with Jackson and two other people about a child. According to Haynie, the argument escalated between him and Jackson. He explained that she ended up pushing and punching him several times. Haynie stated that the assault ended once one of the people involved in the argument pulled her off of him.

When officers spoke with Jackson, most of her statements corroborated his until she got to the physical altercation. Jackson admitted to starting the fight with Haynie. Jackson stated that she only started the fight because she saw Haynie puffing up his chest. After speaking to Jackson, officers were provided a video of one of the witnesses recording the incident. The footage showcased Jackson pushing Haynie twice and then punching him in the face several times. Jackson was then taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.

Mario Twitty steals man’s cell phone at WeGo Central Bus Station, immediately sells it at nearby EcoATM

46-year-old Mario Twitty was caught after stealing a cell phone near the WeGo Central bus station on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard on June 9th. Clarence Allen reported to officers that he had left his cell phone near his belongings on a bench in the bus station. Allen stated he had walked away briefly and when he returned, he realized that his cell phone was gone. Officers conducted a search using the cell phone’s information through their online database. The database showed that the phone was deposited into an EcoATM located at Dollar General on Dr DB Todd Jr Boulevard. The phone was deposited on the same day, thirty minutes after the phone was stolen. Twitty was seen on EcoATM cameras wearing the same clothing and matching the description of the suspect who stole the phone. During the transaction, Twitty provided his driver’s license, which police used to identify him. The stolen phone’s value was less than $1,000. A warrant was issued, and Twitty was later taken into custody for property theft on August 16th.

Sterling Merrill breaks girlfriend’s nails after jumping on top of her during argument

23-year-old Sterling Merrill was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Nicole Gardinier, while at a Lucile Street Apartment on August 21st. When the officers arrived, they spoke to Gardinier, who mentioned that she had been arguing with her boyfriend, Merrill. Gardinier noted that the police were called and had shown up earlier due to their argument. Gardinier claimed that after the police left, the argument continued. She stated that the argument escalated while she was sitting on her bed. Gardinier then claimed Merrill pushed her down before getting on top of her and yelling at her. She added that she tried to get Merrill off her but was unsuccessful, and in the process, she broke two nails. Officers examined her hand and confirmed that two nails were broken, which aligned with her account. Additionally, officers spoke with neighbors who reported yelling and banging in the apartment. Merrill was then deemed the primary aggressor, and he was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Steve Campbell Jr. steals man’s 2017 Kia, tells police he bought it

50-year-old Steve Campbell Jr. was caught with a stolen silver 2017 Kia at a Stilton Drive residence on August 17th. The vehicle’s owner, Jeffery Barrett, provided officers with the mentioned location. Barrett also provided officers with the car tag information and a detailed description of the vehicle’s appearance. Once officers arrived, they observed Campbell Jr. in the backseat of the stolen vehicle and took him into custody. Campbell Jr., who had possession of the keys to the vehicle, told officers under Miranda that he had bought the car for four thousand dollars. When asked if he knew the car was stolen, he said, “No.” Campbell Jr. then told the officers that he was the vehicle’s legal owner, claiming he had a bill of sale from the purchase to prove it. However, Campbell Jr. was unable to present this document to the police. Campbell Jr. also failed to give officers any information about who he allegedly had purchased the vehicle from. When officers escorted Barrett to inspect his vehicle, he pointed out a new issue. The touch screen, which had previously been intact, was now damaged. As officers searched the car, they found Barrett’s phone. When questioned about this, Campbell Jr. claimed the phone did not belong to him. Campbell Jr. was then taken into custody and charged with vandalism and theft of property on August 18th.

Adam Shearer assaults wife during argument over his cell phone

42-year-old Adam Shearer had a domestic altercation with his wife, Renee Shearer, around 4:30 a.m. on August 20th. Renee told responding officers that she and Adam had an argument over his cell phone, which led to a scuffle. She further explained that Adam hit her first and that she only retaliated in self-defense. When the police spoke with Adam, he also confirmed they had a verbal dispute about his phone but stated that Renee hit him first. Officers observed that Adam had a cut on top of his head and that Renee had a large bump on her forehead. Due to Renee calling 911, Adam was deemed to be the primary aggressor and was detained for the incident. Adam Shearer was taken into custody for domestic assault.

DUI: Leah Van Arsdale scores .381% BAC after driving to hospital with her 4-year-old child

42-year-old Leah Van Arsdale was caught driving under the influence after driving to the hospital with her child at TriStar Summit Medical Center on Frist Boulevard on August 16th. Officers were called to a hospital in response to a report of a woman who had driven to the hospital while intoxicated with her four-year-old child in the car. Hospital staff informed the officers that the woman, identified as Arsdale, admitted to driving to the hospital with her child. Arsdale had her blood drawn, resulting in a BAC level of .381%. When officers arrived, they reviewed security footage, which showed Arsdale parking her vehicle, exiting, and taking her child out of the vehicle before entering the emergency room. The officers later found Arsdale’s vehicle with an open 16oz beer can on the passenger side floorboard visible through the window. Officers then checked Arsdale’s information and found that she had a valid driver’s license. However, Arsdale’s license has a condition that requires that the vehicle be equipped with an interlock device, which was not present. When the officers attempted to speak with Arsdale, she was uncooperative. She displayed slurred speech and had the smell of alcohol on her breath. As a result, Arsdale was taken into custody for DUI third offense with a child, open container violation, child neglect, and conditional license violation on August 18th.

Carlos Nataren assaults man after drunkenly attempting to rob him, tells him “I just need someone to talk to”

21-year-old Carlos Nataren was seen publicly intoxicated and assaulting Ivan Almaraz at Motel 6 on Cartwright Street on August 18th. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Almaraz, who stated that Nataren assaulted and threatened to kill him. When officers approached Nataren, he was holding a bottle of alcohol, behaving belligerently, and yelling. As a result, he was detained. After that, the officers tried to talk to Nataren, but he was too intoxicated to answer any questions. They then spoke with Almaraz, who explained that while he was with his girlfriend, Paulina Ortega, and her mother, Maria Belmont. He explained that their room was dirty when trying to check in and decided to switch to a different room. As Almaraz was standing on the second-floor walkway, Nataren allegedly approached him with a bottle of liquor and asked him to take shots. Almaraz informed officers, that he was uncomfortable and attempted to walk away. Despite this, Nataren grabbed Almaraz around the neck from behind and said, “Give me everything you got, or I will cut your head off.”

Almaraz stated that he then opened his wallet, and Nataren snatched the $16 he had out of his wallet. Almaraz advised that Nataren said to him, “That ain’t enough,” and handed the cash back to him. Nataren then stated, “We are the same race. I just need someone to talk to.” Officers then spoke with a bystander and witness, Michael Wanner, who stated that when he was walking around the corner, he saw Nataren and Almaraz. Wanner claimed that Nataren looked at him, grabbed Almaraz around the neck again, and said, “Do you have a gun? I am going to kill this guy.” Wanner then left the area to call the police. Almaraz then informed officers that this is when Nataren let him go and started punching him in the face and chest. As Nataren assaulted him, Almaraz was able to get free and told Belmont to call the police before separating himself from Nataren until the police arrived. Nataren was then deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for assault, robbery, and public intoxication.
