20-year-old Dedrick Givens was involved in a domestic disturbance in the parking lot of Walgreens on Nolensville Pike on August 30th. Givens’ ex-girlfriend, D’vidriah Evans, contacted officers and stated that they had been fighting about her breaking up with him. Evans told officers that Givens immediately started yelling at her when she got home. Evans alleged that while Givens was screaming, he lunged at her but then said he wasn’t going to hit her. Following this, they continued to argue, which Evans stated made Givens more angry at her. This led to Givens shouting and punching on a door. Evans told officers that this made her fear for her safety, so she started grabbing some of her belongings. Given tried to reconcile with Evans by telling her to sit down and that he wouldn’t hit her. However, Evans took this as an opportunity to escape.

Evans alleged that when Givens caught up to her in their apartment parking lot, he put his hands around her throat. Evans proceeded to run through the Walgreens parking lot screaming. A witness at Givens’ apartment complex stated that he heard shouting and banging. The witness added that he heard Givens say he was going to hit Evans. The witness told officers he followed them outside to stop Givens, but Givens followed Evans around until police arrived. When officers arrived and spoke with Givens, he said that he had been angry but would have never threatened Evans or put his hands on a woman. Givens was then taken into custody and charged with domestic assault on August 31st.

Dedrick D. Givens of Hickory Trace Drive in Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 31st, charged with domestic assault. He is free on a $1,000 bond.
