23-year-old Noah Luke Jolley was later identified as a person who left the scene of an accident on Briley Parkway West near Mile Marker 17.6 in the evening hours of September 5th. Patrolling officers observed a help truck with the Tennessee Department of Transportation attempting to assist a motorist with a disabled vehicle. Officers pulled up behind the help truck to block traffic. While the police moved the car out of the roadway, they noticed a white Dodge pickup truck pulling a trailer with significant damage on the left side. After this, officers approached the driver, who stated he had been involved in a car crash and the other driver had left. Then, the police informed dispatch of the incident and interviewed the driver of the white Dodge truck.
The driver stated that a red Chevy S-10 had sideswiped him and continued driving down Briley Parkway. He noted that the red Chevy sustained front-side damage. Officers requested assistance to check the area for the red Chevy S-10. Later, police located a vehicle matching the provided description on the right shoulder off the roadway on Exit Ramp 19. Officers approached the unoccupied Chevy and found several Michelob Ultra 12-ounce cans in a white garbage bag in its bed. They noted that one of the beer cans was still cold and unopened in the driver’s seat. Officers noticed shattered glass over the seats and that the vehicle appeared disabled. The police believed the other driver could have been hurt, so they searched the surrounding area.
Then, while officers were at the Twice Daily on Whites Creek Pike, Jolley had approached them, advising that he had been involved in a car accident. Officers noticed he had visible injuries. However, Jolley did not request an ambulance. After this, the police instructed Jolley to walk in front of their patrol car, where they patted him down and asked why he had left the crash. Jolley responded that he was nervous, had never been in a crash, and knew the area, so he felt it would be safer to be at the gas station. He added that he called his mother to meet him at the Twice Daily. When questioned about not alerting the authorities, Jolley said that he had never been in a car crash and did not know what to do.
During their interaction, officers observed Jolley reeked of alcohol and showed signs of impairment. Officers asked him if he had anything to drink, to which he said no. Then, the officers told Jolley they found beers in the truck, and he said the vehicle did not belong to him. The police checked the registration and discovered that his mother owned the red Chevy S-10. In the belief that Jolley was under the influence, officers prompted him with sobriety tests, and he performed poorly. Then, Jolley agreed to provide a chemical sample and was transported to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital for a blood draw. Jolley was taken into custody for failing to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving under the influence.
Noah Luke Jolley of Meadow View Drive in Pleasant View, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on September 5th, charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to file report. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $3,000, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him pre-trial release from their facility.
