35-year-old James Greenway called for police assistance multiple times on August 31st. Officers were dispatched to the Clarion Hotel on North 1st Street for a prisoner transport request. Upon arrival, the police were notified by other officers that Greenway had contacted them earlier in the night. They stated that Greenway was given a courtesy ride because he was intoxicated and did not want to go to jail. Then, officers said that Greenway had called 911 three times after the initial transport, telling them he didn’t know where to go.
However, when officers tried to locate Greenway so they could help, he refused to tell them where he was because he “had a warrant.” Officers eventually found Greenway and detained him. After this, officers confirmed that he did, in fact, have an outstanding warrant from Sullivan County via the MNPD records radio channel. Officers were advised that Sullivan County would extradite. Greenway was taken into custody on September 1st for public intoxication and non-emergency 911 calls.
James L. Greenway was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on September 1st, charged with public intoxication and making non-emergency 911 calls. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $500.
