53-year-old Eric Collins was caught after violating his order of protection by coming into contact with his wife, Kara Collins, at a Quality Inn on Conference Road on August 22nd. When the officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with Kara. She informed them that Eric had violated a no-contact order she had taken out against him. Kara stated that on the day in question, Eric sent her a text message containing a photo of the rear end of her vehicle parked in front of her room at the Quality Inn. Afterward, Kara went outside to her car and noticed that her Ohio license plate was missing. Eric had also sent several text messages referring to a man named Ross, claiming that he was in the room with Kara and that she was cheating on him.

Kara also mentioned that Eric was able to locate her vehicle through her Kia access account, which he was able to access. Despite their efforts, the officers could not obtain warrants as there was no record of Eric being served the order. On August 26th, the Secretary of State’s office in Tennessee contacted Kara, informing her that Eric had received and signed the Order of Protection through registered mail on August 1st. She was also informed that the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office had received the confirmation email from the USPS on August 5th. However, the system was never updated to reflect that Eric had been served. Due to Eric being served, a warrant was then issued, and he was taken into custody for violating the order of protection on September 10th.

Eric Collins of South McClure Road in Lima, OH, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on September 10th, charged with order of protection violation. He is free on a $2,500 bond.
