DUI: Candice Jenkins crashes into utility pole after drinking 5 shots of vodka

31-year-old Candice Jenkins crashed her 2018 Chevrolet Cruze into a utility pole on Davidson Street late June 7th. The accident caused her airbags to deploy, and the pole was broken, lying in the street with the wires down. She explained that she was sending a “pin” to her boyfriend from her phone when she hit the pole, adding that she was not insured. Her boyfriend had been a couple of minutes behind her in a U-Haul truck with her son. She showed signs of impairment but denied any alcohol consumption, so they prompted her with sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly. Eventually, Jenkins admitted to consuming a “small amount” of alcohol while stating, “There was a reason I wanted my son not to ride with me” several times. Under Miranda, she stated she had about five shots of vodka and had been sober for three years until three days ago. She provided a breath sample resulting in 0.18 BAC% and was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Terry Reed assaults girlfriend when she sees text messages from another woman

48-year-old Terry Brett Reed had a domestic incident with his girlfriend, Wendelin Brown, at their Hickory Highlands apartment in the early hours of June 3rd. Brown spoke with responding officers, telling them that she and Reed had an altercation the night before over him getting texts from another woman. She said another argument sparked that day after he received another message, during which she walked outside to calm down. Brown stated she asked him if she could go through his phone, which he refused, so she disregarded him and grabbed his phone from the counter. Reed got up, grabbed her by her neck, and slammed her against the wall. Brown said after that, she pushed him to get away and accidentally scratched his face. He then released her and walked outside. Brown added that when she closed the door and locked it behind him, he started banging on it and ended up breaking it before grabbing her hair, hitting her in the back of her head, and leaving. Officers noticed Brown had visible injuries from the assault, so they obtained a warrant for Reed’s arrest, and he was taken into custody for domestic assault on June 8th.

Brian Pride gets in police officer’s face after altercation with homeless person

19-year-old Brian Pride was taken into custody for disorderly conduct on June 7th. Around 9:15, near Tootsies Orchid Lounge, officers were flagged down regarding an altercation between Pride and an “unhoused” individual. Officers discovered that neither party was threatened by the other, and they agreed to walk away. While officers were leaving, Pride returned and got in their faces, creating a disturbance, so they detained him for the occurrence.

Steven Spencer has altercation near the Pedestrian Bridge

54-year-old Steven Spencer had an altercation with an unidentified party on 1st Avenue near the Pedestrian Bridge late June 7th. Officers observed this and commanded him to stop. When they turned the corner, he had taken a fighting stance with another individual. Then, he entered ACME Feed and Seed and sat at the bar, where officers apprehended him. Spencer was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.

Jaden Lawrence commits fraud on mom’s credit card

18-year-old Jaden Rain Lawrence was taken into custody for fraudulent credit card use on June 7th. Police responded to Billingsgate Road and spoke with Norma Lawrence, Jaden’s mother, who advised them that Jaden had been using her credit card without permission for the last two months. Jaden admitted to officers that she took a picture of her mom’s credit card and had been using it for food deliveries and Uber rides over the past several months, totaling over $2,000.

Keterrius Stegall punches girlfriend in face & steals car keys during argument

21-year-old Keterrius La John Stegall was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Rickora Walker, at a Buffalo Trails apartment residence on May 4th. Walker contacted the police about an incident that occurred between her and Stegall. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Walker, who stated she was on the phone with her sister when Stegall overheard her talking and got upset with what she was talking about. Walker told officers that Stegall wanted to grab their kid from her mom’s place, but she did not want him to go over there because he had a bad relationship with her brother.

The two got into an argument, and while they were arguing, Stegall punched Walker in the stomach and took her keys from her hoodie pocket. Walker told officers that after that, Stegall grabbed her phone, threw it on the ground, and stepped on it, causing damage. Stegall then went outside with the keys before Walker followed and got into the car as well. While in the vehicle arguing, Stegall punched her in the face, making her get out of the vehicle. He then proceeded to leave the scene with the vehicle.

Officers observed marks on Walker’s face as well as visible scratch marks around her neck. Officers also observed the damaged phone. Stegall violated the no-contact order that Walker had against him. Stegall also failed to appear in court twice after posting bond. A warrant was issued, and Stegall was taken into custody on June 10th for vandalism, theft, domestic assault, no contact order violation, and two counts of failing to appear.

Autumn Ewing smears hair conditioner on ex-boyfriend, says she wants closure from the breakup

23-year-old Autumn Ewing was involved in a domestic altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Deonte Lewis, at their Hickory Drive Apartment residence on June 7th. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Lewis, who claimed he was taking a nap on the couch before work when Ewing wanted to speak with him. He stated that he was giving her short responses because he did not want to speak with her, so she smeared hair conditioner on his face. After he wiped the conditioner off his face, Ewing poured two water bottles on him. Officers observed the couch being wet before speaking with Ewing. She told officers that she and Lewis lived together, but she was moving out today. Ewing stated she wanted to speak with Lewis so she could get closure from him and she didn’t like how Lewis was dismissing her, so she took some conditioner out of her hair and smeared it on his face to get his attention. She also admitted to spraying water on Lewis with a water bottle. Ewing was then deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Brelkis Hernandez scratches husband during argument about drinking alcohol

24-year-old Brelkis Hernandez was involved in a domestic altercation with her husband, Juan Juarez, at her Old Hickory Boulevard apartment residence on June 7th. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Hernandez, who stated she and Juarez had gotten into a verbal altercation. Hernandez stated that Juarez had been harassing her, and she asked him to get counseling. She also claimed that there was no physical violence or threats of violence during the altercation. Officers then spoke with Juarez, who stated they had been in an argument about them both drinking alcohol. Juarez informed officers that the dispute turned physical, and Hernandez scratched him. Officers observed the scratches to his neck and questioned Hernandez about it, and she stated, “Well, then he hit me.” Officers could not find any injuries to Hernandez. Due to the statements made and injuries shown, Hernandez was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Kayla Collier assaults wife after getting caught cheating

27-year-old Kayla Collier had a domestic incident with her wife, Jamie Edwards, at their Ewing Drive residence around 10:02 p.m. on June 6th. Edwards spoke with responding officers and told them that earlier in the evening, she discovered Collier had cheated on her, so she put all her clothes at the front door, which she locked with the latch, preventing her from entering with her keys. When Collier returned, Edwards saw her on the ring bell camera breaking through the door, sparking an argument in the hallway, where Collier pushed her onto the stairs. Collier then went to her bedroom, took two plants, and threw them outside, causing the pots to break. Edwards added that she responded by throwing Collier’s bag on the ground, which was when Collier punched her in the face and threw her ring doorbell in the nearby wooded area. Officers deemed Collier the primary aggressor and obtained a warrant for Collier’s arrest. Collier was taken into custody for domestic assault on June 7th.  

Diane Crump threatens daughter with hammer, tells officers “I’m going to kill her”

58-year-old Diane Crump had a domestic altercation with her adult daughter, Brittney Crump, at their residence late June 10th. Diane told responding officers that Brittney was being disrespectful and said she wanted her “put out.” When officers went to the door, Brittney unlocked the latch and answered the door, telling them that she was bathing her kids when her mom had suddenly become upset because she did not want to help with them. While outside, Diane told officers, “I am going to kill her,” and then entered the residence, sparking an argument, during which she retrieved a hammer from the kitchen and acted as if she was going to hit her with it, so they detained her. Diane explained that she grabbed the hammer to knock off the latch since Brittney kept locking it. Diane Crump was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
