Jeremy Towner punches girlfriend in head after she won’t drive him back to Indiana

37-year-old Jeremy Towner had a domestic incident with his girlfriend, Reyshawn Anna Maria Pollins, at his Gatewood Avenue apartment on July 19th. Pollins called the police to Love’s Travel Stop on Trinity Lane, where she told them Towner assaulted her.  She further explained that Towner called her to help him move back to Indiana, where she lives. Then, Pollins said after she arrived at the apartment complex, she went to use the bathroom in Towner’s unit. Pollins stated she was greeted by another woman who shares a child with Towner, which sparked an argument. Once Pollins returned to her vehicle, she texted Towner, telling him she wanted him to bring her stuff to the car. When Towner got to her car, Pollins told him to leave the duffel bag and that she would not drive him back to Indiana. Then, after they argued for a short period, Pollins stated that Towner grabbed her phone and put it on top of the car. She then told the police that she reached for her phone. In response, Towner grabbed her by the throat, forced her against the car, and punched her in the head repeatedly, causing her lip to bleed. Pollins said that while he was hitting her, he was saying, “This is what you want?” After this, she entered her car, drove away, and alerted the authorities. Officers observed her visible injuries and obtained a warrant for Towner’s arrest. Towner was later taken into custody for aggravated assault on July 30th.  

Paige Empey steals $263 worth of merchandise from Nordstrom using magnet

28-year-old Paige Kaitlin Empey was observed shoplifting at Nordstrom on Abbott Martin Road in the evening hours of March 20th. Responding officers spoke with a loss prevention officer, Tyrell Luture Rutledge, who stated he witnessed Empey entering the store with an empty bag. Rutledge stated Empey then grabbed multiple items from the clothing rack and went to the changing room. Rutledge added that Empey exited the changing room without the merchandise in her hands, which was when he detained her at the exit. Then, he told officers that he found stolen items in her bag, totaling $263.90. The police were advised that Empey had a magnet in her purse that disables the alarm attached to the clothing. She was then cited for the occurrence. Empey failed to appear in court and was jailed for theft on July 31st.

Kevin Meneses Gutierres strangles girlfriend, threatens to kill her for messaging his mother

19-year-old Kevin Jose Meneses Gutierres had a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Iris Yahoska Davila, at their Windsor Brook Place residence on July 31st. Davila advised responding officers that she, Gutierres, her children, and his family stayed at the residence. Then, she further explained that she messaged Gutierres’ mother and that the message’s contents upset Gutierres. Davila said that after Gutierres picked his mom up from work, he returned home and confronted her about the message she sent. Davila told officers that Gutierres attacked her with his hands, knocking her to the ground. She added that he then restrained her by putting his knees on her arms to keep her from getting up.

Then, Gutierres reportedly put his hands around her neck and strangled her, during which she struggled with breathing. In response, Davila’s 4-year-old child began hitting Gutierres to get him off her. The police report stated that Gutierres told Davila he would kill her while strangling her. Shortly after, Gutierres’ aunt and uncle returned home, went into the bathroom, and separated the two. Officers noticed Davila had bruising and scratches on her arms, neck, and face, consistent with her statements. A medic evaluated her, but she refused to be transported to the hospital. Officers then spoke with Gutierres, who said Davila attacked him and that he held her down to stop her from assaulting him. When they asked him how Davila got her injuries, Gutierres stated that she hurt herself. Gutierres was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Ryan Harrington jailed after stealing man’s 2023 Lincoln Navigator & multiple guns

48-year-old Ryan Harrington was caught after stealing a 2023 Lincoln Navigator on Stovenhaven Court on July 30th. Officers were provided camera footage from the original scene, in which detectives observed Harrington wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. Once detectives arrived at the home where the stolen vehicle was located, they came into contact with Harrington. Harrington was seen lying on a couch wearing the same clothes he was seen wearing in the surveillance footage. The victim of the incident, Michael Hoover, informed officers that his prescription medication was inside his vehicle along with three handguns. After all of Hoover’s belongings were found in the car. Harrington was taken into custody for legend drug possession, three counts of theft of a firearm, and theft of $60,000 to $250,000.

DUI: April Blacksmith crashes Chevy Impala into parked car after driving without license

56-year-old April Denise Blacksmith crashed her black Chevy Impala into a parked vehicle near the South 11th Street and Shelby Avenue intersection on July 30th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Blacksmith, who initially stated she was in the car before admitting she was the driver. During their interaction, officers noticed she reeked of alcohol and was dropping things out of her hands. Then, Blacksmith admitted she drank beer and had a couple shots a few hours prior. When prompted, Blacksmith consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and after being informed of implied consent, refused to provide a chemical sample. Then, the police ran her information and discovered she had no valid driver’s license. Blacksmith was then taken into custody for driving under the influence, an implied consent violation, and having no valid driver’s license.

Aime Mugabe flees car accident in Kia Optima with detached front-end bumper

19-year-old Aime Mugabe fled the scene of a car accident near 8th Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard on July 30th. Additional officers were dispatched to assist with the hit-and-run. Officer Hogan stated he witnessed a white Kia Optima with front-end damage leaving without stopping, rendering aid, or exchanging information. He added that he last saw the Kia heading northbound along 8th Avenue South towards Demonbreun Street. About an hour later, officers were dispatched to 4th Avenue North at the Ryman Auditorium regarding a possible car crash. Upon arrival, the police noticed the Kia Optima’s front-end bumper was detached, and four occupants were present. Three occupants stated that Mugabe was driving the white Kia Optima during the initial collision. Mugabe could not provide proof of insurance and was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident, failing to render aid, and having no proof of financial responsibility on July 31st.

Local Author Martina C. Jackson punches roommate in face during altercation

31-year-old Local Author Martina Celine Jackson had an altercation with her friend and roommate, Cierra Janay Hardin, at their friend’s house on July 29th. Hardin called the police to the Madison Flats on Brink Haven Avenue and told them she wanted to be transported to a shelter for the night. Hardin further explained that she and Jackson had a scuffle in the morning before she decided to go to a friend’s house. Then, Hardin stated that her friends invited Jackson over to have what she believed was a sit down to settle the earlier tension. Hardin said she and Jackson’s conversation escalated quickly when Jackson punched her in the face and head, causing her nose to bleed. Jackson was then taken into custody for assault on July 30th.

David Rice speeds down I-24 East in Mecury Milan while driving on revoked Michigan license

57-year-old David Rice was speeding in his green 2009 Mercury Milan on I-24 East on November 21st, 2022. Officers observed this, used their lidar, which recorded Cotton going 85 mph in a 70-mph zone, and then conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, Rice could not provide a valid driver’s license. After a records check, officers discovered Rice’s license had been revoked in Michigan. Officers cited him for the violation for that day. Rice was later booked on the citation of driving on a revoked license on July 29th, 2024.

Devon Washington booked after smoking white rock-like substance in downtown Nashville

42-year-old Devon Washington and another individual were observed on surveillance cameras smoking a white rock-like substance from a pipe near Middleton Street and Ewing Avenue on June 26th. Responding officers detained Washington and the other party. Then, during a subsequent search of Washington, the police found a small glass “crack pipe” and a gram of marijuana. He was then cited for the incident that day. Washington was later booked on the citation of simple possession on July 26th.
