49-year-old Christopher Alan Gibby had a domestic altercation with Monika Witkowski at their Broadstone SoBro apartment on the afternoon of June 15th. Witkowski told responding officers that she and Gibby had an argument, which escalated when he became aggressive and threatened her. Gibby then granned a pair of scissors and held them as if he was going to stab Witowski. She said that after she managed to get the scissors from him, their dispute continued into their bedroom. While on the bed, Gibby held her down and strangled her, impeding her breathing. Officers noticed that Witkowski sustained visible injuries to her chin, face, and chest. Officers deemed Gibby the primary aggressor and detained him for the incident. Gibby was taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Mark Kavanaugh flees from NFD medics, tells police “Of course, I was trying to get away!”
30-year-old Mark Robert Kavanaugh was taken into custody for public intoxication and resisting arrest on May 20th. On May 19th, NFD medics called the police near William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower, where they advised officers that they had been dispatched twice regarding Kavanaugh being too intoxicated. Medics added that Kavanaugh had fled from them before the police arrived. Officers then found him at the 4th Avenue North and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersection, attempting to escape from medics again. When officers approached Kavanaugh, they noticed he reeked of alcohol as he stumbled around “talking in circles.” Officers tried to detain Kavanaugh, during which he pulled away until they could place him in handcuffs. He told officers, “Of course, I was trying to get away,” and then continued being verbally combative with officers. Kavanaugh was deemed a danger to himself and was jailed for the incident.
DUI: Christopher Hawkins found sleeping in his car with gun under his seat
25-year-old Christopher Hawkins was observed sleeping in his driver’s seat while the engine was on near 3rd Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard in the early hours of May 5th. When officers arrived, they approached Hawkins and had him exit his vehicle, where they noticed he reeked of alcohol before he admitted to drinking. He consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers discovered that Hawkins’ license had expired. During a subsequent search, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun under his seat with two additional filled magazines. Hawkins was taken into custody for driving under the influence, weapon possession while under the influence, and not having a valid driver’s license.
Eddie Oliver Jr. booked after staring into women’s cars in parking lot
27-year-old Eddie Anthony Oliver Jr. was taken into custody for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct on May 6th. When officers arrived, they spoke with the complainant, who stated that Oliver was looking into cars in the parking lot. They also said Oliver was walking up to several female customers, approaching their driver-side windows, and making them uncomfortable. Oliver refused to leave the property when asked. Officers located him in the parking lot, where he attempted to walk away and became uncooperative. After they confirmed that the location had an active trespass on file, he was detained for the incident.
DUI: Yenni Perez leaves accident, tells police she didn’t stay because she doesn’t have a license
41-year-old Yenni Perez was seen driving without a license after hit and run incident Near 8th Avenue S on April 29th. When officers arrived, they observed Perez’s vehicle leaving the crash scene. Witnesses immediately alerted them that the vehicle was involved in the crash, but they did not exchange information. Officers observed the vehicle continue southbound on 8th Avenue towards the intersection before officers caught up and escorted her back to the crash. Officers then spoke with Perez, who stated she did not have to stay at the location because she knew she did not have a valid Tennessee driver’s license or proof of insurance. Officers noticed the tag on the vehicle was upside down and observed that the VIN and registration did not match the vehicle she was driving. Perez then claimed she bought the vehicle at an auction, which officers confirmed. Perez had no passport or identification, so she could not be issued a state citation. Before being taken into custody, Perez had officers give her son a check to pay the rent. Officers noticed the check had the last name Ortiz, which her son confirmed as her last name. Perez refused to answer questions about why she gave a different last name. Perez was taken into custody and charged with criminal impersonation, no driver’s license, unregistered vehicle, leaving the scene of an incident, and insurance compliance.
David Hamilton-Tweedale found walking along I-40 West after night on the town
47-year-old David James Hamilton-Tweedale was walking on I-40 West near Exit 209A in the early hours of April 6th. Upon arrival, officers observed him walking eastbound on the freeway, approached him, and noticed he reeked of alcohol. Hamilton-Tweedale stated he was not in a vehicle and had been out drinking. Officers deemed him a danger to himself and others, so he was detained for the incident. Hamilton-Tweedale was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Carley O’Neil found drunkenly sprinting down Division Street, admits to having “a lot of alcohol”
27-year-old Carley O’Neil was sprinting down near 8th Avenue South and Division Street in the early hours of April 7th. Officers observed this and approached her to ensure she was not in danger. As officers spoke to O’Neil, they noticed she was stumbling and slurring her words. O’Neil then admitted to having “a lot of alcohol” and that she was trying to get home. O’Neil could not provide any information regarding where she lived, and the address on her license revealed that she did not live nearby. O’Neil was deemed a danger to herself and others, so officers tried to detain her, and she became resistive. O’Neil was taken into custody for public intoxication and resisting arrest.
Christopher Silva found slumped in front of Carillon Apartments
49-year-old Christopher Silva was being disorderly at Carillon Apartments on 4th Avenue North on the afternoon of April 2nd. Upon arrival, officers observed him extremely intoxicated and slumped over in front of the establishment. He could not walk in a straight line or stand up independently, so he was deemed him a danger to himself and others. Silva was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Matthew Allen kicked out of Bode Nashville for being too drunk
47-year-old Matthew Lincoln Allen was taken into custody for public intoxication on April 2nd. Security at Bode Nashville alerted the authorities, advising that Allen had come into the establishment already intoxicated and continued drinking when he got there. When the bartender told him to leave, he got aggressive with the staff. Officers asked him for his basic information, but he was too impaired to answer. Allen could not stand up independently and was deemed a danger to himself and others.
