Amy Eckhold throws margarita can at husband, threatens him with knife during altercation

52-year-old Amy Eckhold had a domestic altercation with her husband, Stephen Eckhold, at their 3rd Avenue South apartment on the afternoon of August 31st. Stephen told dispatch that Amy had pulled a knife on him. When officers arrived at the secondary location, the Hermitage Avenue Shell Station, Stephen had called dispatch back. Stephen told officers he was in Brentwood, Tennessee, and no longer wished to speak with them. Officers attempted to speak with Amy at their 3rd Avenue South apartment, but she did not answer the door. About an hour and a half later, officers received another call for service to Stephen and Amy’s apartment. Stephen had told Elaine Anders about the incident, and she alerted the authorities. She stated that Amy had yelled at Stephen and hit him on the head, causing him to bleed. Anders wanted the police to conduct a welfare check on Amy.

When the police arrived, Stephen opened the door. He told them that he and Amy had a verbal dispute about their living situation and her recent job loss. Stephen further explained that Amy threw a full margarita can at the back of his head before pulling a three-inch serrated steak knife on him. After this, he left the residence and called 911. Officers observed Stephen had visible injuries. Despite this, Stephen refused medical assistance. When the police tried to speak with Amy, she shut and locked the door on them. Before shutting the door, she told them that Stephen pulled a knife on her. Amy Eckhold was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on September 1st.

Matthew Carter rams his truck into man’s vehicle for picking up his ex-girlfriend

25-year-old Matthew Carter had a domestic dispute with his at-the-time girlfriend, Hannah Whitaker, at their Luton Street residence late June 8th. Whitaker told responding officers that Carter took her phone and prevented her from calling 911. Then, when officers spoke with Carter, he stated that he and Whitaker had a verbal altercation. Whitaker further explained that she was about to record Carter when he grabbed the phone from her, which he later admitted. Whitaker stated that she asked Carter repeatedly to return her phone so she could call the police, but he did not. After this, Carter left the residence in his car with her cell phone. Whitaker told officers that she went to a neighbor’s house to alert the authorities once he left. Carter said that when he returned, he placed the phone down so she could retrieve it. Then, officers reviewed the security camera footage from their residence, showing Whitaker asking Carter several times to return her phone as he continued walking around the property and loading items into his vehicle before driving away. Carter was then taken into custody for interfering with a 911 call.

Then, on August 13th, officers were dispatched to East Trinity Lane and Meridian Street around 8 p.m. regarding an individual, later identified as Carter, deliberately ramming their blue pickup truck into another vehicle with an occupant inside. When police arrived, they spoke with Chance Benner, who stated that he was sitting in his car waiting to pick up Hannah Whitaker at Mary Market following an argument she had with Carter, her ex-boyfriend. Benner explained that he observed Carter pulling up in a blue Dodge pickup truck. Carter motioned for Benner to roll his window down and asked him who he was there to pick up. Benner said he and Carter exchanged words before Carter pulled out of the parking spot and onto Meridian Street. After this, Benner told officers that Carter reversed his truck, put the gear into drive, and rammed it into the rear quarter of the passenger side of his vehicle. Then, Benner said he started chasing Carte. However, Carter reversed away from the location. Whitaker told the police that she observed the incident from a distance. Then, officers reviewed security footage, corroborating Benner’s statements. Shortly after, the police located Carter’s blue Dodge pickup truck at his relative’s nearby residence. A warrant was then issued for Carter’s arrest, and he was later taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on August 14th.
