Demarco Ellis ,19, jailed after possessing around 90 grams of marijuana and a .40 caliber pistol

19-year-old Demarco Ellis was seen trespassing with his 16-year-old co-defendant at the Hickory Ridge Apartments on June 23rd. The location’s property manager called the police after observing this. When officers arrived, they noticed a silver Nissan Altima with two occupants, later identified as Ellis and the minor. They observed the Altima backing into a parking spot with the two front seats reclined as if they were avoiding being found. Officers approached the driver’s side door and spoke with Ellis, during which they saw a green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana on his black hoodie. This led them to request Ellis to exit the vehicle. Once he got out, he admitted that there was marijuana inside a “blunt” in the center console. Officers detained them and searched the vehicle, resulting in them locating a small plastic bag with 1.9 grams of marijuana on the center console, a black Nike backpack on the floorboard with a plastic bag containing 89.7 grams of marijuana, and an empty .40 caliber pistol magazine, two wrappers, a vape, a scale, two 150-count boxes of sandwich bags, and two empty vacuum-sealed bags with marijuana residue in the trunk. The minor told officers, under Miranda, that he was with Ellis so they could smoke marijuana together. Ellis was taken into custody for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, felony possession, and underage tobacco possession.
