Ian Balogh slaps & punches ex-boyfriend during argument at his apartment

25-year-old Ian Balogh had a domestic incident with his ex-boyfriend, Brandon Hendren, on March 22nd. Hendren called the police to a Hermitage Avenue establishment and told them he and Balogh were driving to Smyrna, TN, to pick up Hendren’s vehicle. During the drive, Hendren said they had a verbal dispute that escalated when Balogh slapped him in the face. Hendren stated that he stopped the car and asked Balogh to leave. Balogh then took Hendren’s laptop and shoes he let Hendren wear before walking off towards Fairfield Avenue. Hendren said that he parked at the Hermitage Avenue business and waited for the police to arrive so he could report the altercation. Hendren told officers that he wanted to press charges. Then, warrants were issued for Balogh’s arrest that day. On August 28th, officers responded to The Haven at The Gulch Apartments on Division Street regarding a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they spoke with Hendren. He stated that he and Balogh had gotten into a scuffle at Balogh’s apartment. Hendren explained that their verbal argument escalated when Balogh told him to leave. Hendren said Balogh eventually pushed him out the door and into the hallway. Then, he stated that Balogh followed him and slapped him. This was when Hendren told Balogh that if he hit him again, he would call the police. After this, Hendren said that Balogh slapped him again and punched him in the face, leaving an abrasion and broken skin under his left eye. Hendren said he then called 911 for assistance. While officers were on the way, Balogh had also called the police. Balogh advised police that he had pushed Hendren out of his unit. Then, Balogh added that Hendren may have sustained his injuries after being shoved into the hallway. During the investigation, officers discovered that Balogh had three outstanding warrants from a previous domestic occurrence with Hendren in March 2024. That incident resulted in Balogh violating a temporary order of protection that Hendren had placed against him in Shelby County. Balogh was taken into custody for domestic assault, aggravated assault, theft, and an order of protection violation.
