Juan Thompson pistol-whips his cousin for touching his shoes during argument

19-year-old Juan Thompson had a domestic incident with his cousin, Toniyja Winters, at her Bell Road apartment in the early hours of August 26th. Winters told responding officers that she let Thompson and his pregnant girlfriend, Briasia Hyde, stay the night. Then, Winters stated that she and Thompson verbally argued the following morning. She stated they argued because Thompson was mad Hyde went outside and was doing something while pregnant. Winters said that she told Thompson and Hyde to leave because she had to go to work and did not want them in her apartment anymore. After this, Winters explained that Thompson told her not to touch his shoes or he would pistol whip her. Then, Winters touched his shoes, trying to get him to leave. In response, Thompson grabbed his pistol and hit her in the back of the head twice, knocking her to the ground. Winters added that while she was on the floor, Thompson started hitting her with his shoes repeatedly. Hyde, who witnessed the occurrence, confirmed Winters’s statements. Then, Winters told the police that she wished to press charges. After the police noticed blood on the back of her head, Winters was transported to Summit Medical Center for treatment. Thompson was not on the scene, so a warrant was issued for his arrest that day. Thompson was later taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on August 27th.
