Cory McClure arrested after woman calls 911 whispering “help”

36-year-old Cory Donte Mcclure had a domestic altercation with Lashaunda Douglas on June 3rd. Officers received a call for service regarding a welfare check after someone called 911 and whispered, “Help,” before disconnecting. Upon arrival, witnesses advised them that there was a female in the car, later identified as Douglas, in the driveway, who was assaulted by the man in the house, later identified as Mcclure. Officers tried to speak to Douglas, but she appeared heavily intoxicated. She could not specifically tell them what happened, how she sustained the visible injuries on her arm, or the minor laceration on her lip. While they were speaking with her, Mcclure emerged from the residence, sweating profusely and seemed to be out of breath.  He told officers that he and Douglas had a verbal dispute about him trying to retrieve his phone from her. He stated he was attempting to take her home due to her intoxication; however, he was also impaired. Mcclure insisted that nothing physical happened between the two. Witnesses from across the street told officers that when they returned home, they saw Mcclure reaching into the car and attacking Douglas, during which he was yelling about his phone and how he wanted it back. Mcclure was then taken into custody for domestic assault.
