Shanti-Nigue Goree jailed after being unable to pay for $130 service at Star Nails

34-year-old Shanti-Nigue Goree could not pay for services she received at Star Nails on July 19th. When officers arrived, they spoke with the establishment owner, Lynda Nguyen. She stated Goree walked into the location to get her nails done and told her she would pay upon completion. Then, Nguyen said that Goree started acting strangely, so she asked Goree if she could close the account before finishing. Goree responded by asking if she could pay via PayPal. However, Nguyen advised Goree that they did not accept digital transactions. Then, Goree gave Nguyen a friend’s phone number to help pay for the service, but they did not answer. After this, Goree told Nguyen that she did not have a way to pay and tried handing her a note explaining her current financial situation. Nguyen said she refused to read Goree’s note and informed officers that the services cost $130. Goree was then cited for the incident that day. Goree was later booked on the citation of theft on August 12th.
