DUI: Toraun Blackman causes car accident, tells police he wasn’t driving despite admitting he was the driver

25-year-old Toraun Blackman was involved in a car accident at the intersection of 3rd Avenue North and James Robertson Parkway on August 31st. When officers arrived, they spoke with both parties about the crash. Both parties reported that they observed they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Blackman, as well as other signs of intoxication. This prompted officers to ask Blackman to perform sobriety tests, but Blackman refused and stated that he was not driving. Before saying this, Blackman had already admitted that he was driving the car. Blackman was read implied consent and later transported to booking for driving under the influence.
