WeGo bus passengers held with hands up in the air by MNPD during reported gun incident

Metro Nashville Police responded to a call on May 23rd involving a WeGo Transit bus, where two people were reportedly threatening each other with guns. The bus was on the move along its route but was eventually located and stopped. Dispatchers were relaying information from the caller to the officers en route, with messages such as “this is going to be bad, he said he had a gun,” “gun made a click sound through his bag,” and “subject did advise he had a gun.” A stop was conducted on the WeGo Transit bus, and officers ordered every person on the bus to raise their hands. Officers then identified the subject based on the description given by the caller. The man had a backpack by his feet and was detained after reaching for his backpack when officers attempted to move it. The subject, 21-year-old Bradarius Knapp, advised he was not going to be placed in handcuffs and tried to pull away from officers. Knapp then jumped onto a seat to get away and kicked an officer in the process. Knapp was eventually taken into custody on May 24th, and no gun was located on his person.
