26-year-old Shadara Ferrier had an altercation with her acquaintance, Erin Maxey, at their Knights Inn Motel room on Spring Street in the early hours of April 21st. Maxey told the authorities that she was visiting Nashville with a few friends from Kentucky. Maxey stated Ferrier, who was intoxicated, had become angry because they were planning to go out and meet with some men they had met downtown. Maxey said Ferrier was also irritated because she asked to retrieve her belongings from her car. Maxey stated once she returned to their room, Ferrier was arguing with Kaylee Haste, one of their friends. Then, Maxey explained that she asked Ferrier to unlock her car, and Ferrier charged at her. Maxey stated that Ferrier grabbed her head, slammed her against the wall, and started punching her in the face after forcing her to the floor. Officers noted that Maxey had severe bruising on her face, swelling around her nose, and a black eye. Maxey said she defended herself, grabbing Ferrier’s hair and attempting to punch her. Haste corroborated Maxey’s statement and spoke with a mutual friend who spoke with Ferrier, who said, “She had messed up really bad and made a big mistake.” Ferrier left the scene before the officers arrived and returned to Kentucky. Ferrier was taken into custody for assault on May 2nd.
